Happy New Year! Phew, time flies. It's a new year and this means that we all have yet another opportunity to 'turn over a new leaf' and think of ways in which we can give back to Jamaica. The 35th President of the Unites States of America, the late John F Kennedy once said, “ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” This philosophy is one that we should all strive to live by. Can you imagine how great Jamaica would be if we all adopted this attitude towards our country? Instead of always asking our country to take care of us, we need to take care of our country.
You know, one of the ways in which a country overcomes the
plethora of challenges its faces, is through the individual contributions,
however small they are, from its citizens. A country that has citizens who are
willing and able to give of their time, expertise and money to foster the
development of their communities, is often a formidable one in today's globalised
world.
Volunteerism is important
It's so easy to give back to Jamaica. Whether you provide
mentorship to children or you decide to donate some money to a half-way home,
each act of kindness adds up. We encourage everyone to volunteer as much as
they can. Volunteer, volunteer, volunteer. It's through
volunteerism that we will be able to rebuild Jamaica, one community at a time.
Resolve today to make 2013 a year of ACT!ON. In whatever way you
can, always strive to give back to Jamaica. It’s never too late!!! Join
our national volunteer corps: ACT!ON Jamaica: http://ow.ly/g2DxS and let’s work together to make Jamaica the place of
choice to live, work, raise families, and do business!
We’re super excited about working with you on the many activities
and projects that we’ll be executing this year.
